Treating asthma is very difficult and specially when treating the severe Asthma

When not controlled on inhalational corticosteroids, daily oral steroids has to be given to control asthma
Daily oral steroids may cause, osteoporosis,cataract,glaucoma ,if it is used for a prolonged period of time
If patient forgets to take it, asthma becomes uncontrolled
According to an adult study .published in Lancet Respiratory Medicine on 21January 2026.,monthly injection of Tezepelumab, may reduce the oral dose of steroids in maximum patients and in more than 50% cases , patients can do well without taking oral steroid.Life style improves, lung function improves and compliaace to treatment is also better.
Tezepelumab is recommended for use in children at 12 years of age and above
It is TSLP blocker which works in both type of asthma,type 2 and non type 2,whether eosinophil and IgE is raised or not raised
It is given subcutaneously in the dose of 210 mg once in a week for long time and benefits are perceivable even after 15 days of starting the therapy
