Bronchial Biopsy is done for diagnosing respiratory diseases ,which has not been diagnosed by other investigations including BAL
There are 3 types of Biopsies ,which are taken through Flexible Bronchoscope-1.Bronchial Brushing 2.Endobronchial Biopsy,3.Transbronchial Lung Biopsy-TBLB and,4.TBNA-Transbronchial Needle Aspiration.
In case of Bronchial brushing ,minor self limiting bleeding may occur rarely.
Minor bleeding which are usually self limiting commonly occurs in Endobronchial Biopsy but in case of TBLB ,always there remains a chance of major bleeding which may require intervention to stop it.
